  • Rosehip oil is produced by extracting the seeds of the rose bush, which can be from the musk rose bush or from sweet briar. This oil is obtained by a cold pressed extraction technique, the same way olive oil is obtained. Rosehip oil for acne is gaining popularity, however there is a lot of misconception about this. This is because oil from rose hip is powerful to treat acne scars, but it is not a treatment for acne condition itself. Its application on pimples, can even multiply the break outs. Given below is explained why rosehip oil benefits in treating the acne scars, but is a bad idea for treating pimples. And some other solutions to treat break outs.

    Rosehip Oil for Acne Scars

    Why Rosehip Oil for Scars?
    First, let us look at what all rosehip oil contains. It contains retinol or vitamin A, which is good for skin and used for reducing any types of scars. It also contains omega 6 and omega 9 fatty acids. It contains beta-carotene, which is a powerful antioxidant and a source of pro-vitamin A. This is the stuff found in carrots too, and carrots are also good for skin care. It contains natural vitamin C. And it contains lycopene which is a very powerful antioxidant.

    It contains many antioxidants, which help to fight the free radical damage, and push out toxins out of the skin, which means clearer skin. As rosehip oil contain lipoic acid, it can even help get rid of the harmful bacterial out of the skin. But, the same thing can irritate the skin. There are some products which don't contain lipoic acid, so if you have sensitive skin, or pimple prone skin, then go for lipoic acid free products.

    Using Rosehip Oil for Scar Treatment
    You can use rosehip oil to get rid of any type of scars, but rosehip oil for pimples is not a good idea. It has moisturizing properties, which you can use even to get rid of stretch marks. It is also good for hyper-pigmented skin. You can also use it as a moisturizer. Rosehip oil works good to prevent pre-mature aging. This oil is good to repair skin damage done by sun, and it can help to restore the natural glow of the skin.

    Rosehip in general is good for getting rid for scars, whether pimple marks, skin burn marks, stretch marks, hyper-pigmentation, etc. But, when it is used in high concentration it can aggravate acne. To use it as a natural acne cures for scars, it is best if you mix it with other oils. Mix rosehip oil jojoba oil and lavender oil, in a 10:10:3 proportion. Jojoba oil is excellent moisturizer and a light one, and lavender oil has its own benefits in reducing scar appearance. This treatment won't work overnight, so you will have to follow it for few months till you get to the see the effects.

    Apart from using rosehip oil for facial care, speed up the process you can also use other homemade face packs to reduce the scar appearance. Make a sandalwood powder pack with rosewater, and apply on the face, and let it dry for 10-15 minutes, then wash your face with cool water. Repeat this remedy twice a week.

    Treating Acne First
    If you are still suffering from acne breakouts like pimples and blackheads, then consider using other essential oils for acne. Two of the best oils are jojoba oil for acne and tea tree oil for acne. Jojoba oil helps to dissolve the clogged sebum of acne and tea tree oil kills the bacteria. Mix jojoba oil with tea tree oil in 10:2 proportion respectively, and apply it on the breakouts.
